Wells Shooting Preserve is located on the shores of Lake Thompson, in south-central South Dakota.  For more than 25 years hunters have enjoyed exceptional hunting in a variety of cover such as corn, grass, and shelter belt.

The preserve season runs from September 1 through March 31, sunrise to sunset with a daily limit of 15 birds.  Out of state hunters need only to purchase a $35 preserve license and are able to hunt any preserve land in South Dakota.

Lodging is available in a two bedroom house with plans for a bunkhouse and game room to be developed for the fall hunting season of 2001.  Lodging for hunters includes 3 meals.  The house included a TV, bathroom, and kitchen.  The bunkhouse will have a pool table/game room, kitchenette, and a deck looking out over Lake Thompson.
